Every year the REINSW runs a great charity event known as the Novice Auctioneers Competition (NAC). The NAC sees some of NSW's would-be and up-and-coming auctioneers battling it out on stage . The competition gives entrants a chance to try their hand at auctioneering, without the pressure of having to sell a real property. Instead, entrants auction an item of their choice such as a spa package, weekend away or a bottle of wine with the proceeds going toward the McGrath Foundation.
To take part is easy! Entrants simply register to take part in one or more of the nine heats being held around NSW in early 2017. A panel of judges will score each entrant by assessing their ability to auction with confidence and poise, as well as how well the item is described, control of bidding and use of the gavel. The entrant with the highest overall score is awarded the winner and will have the opportunity to compete in the NAC State Final in Sydney.
Previous winners and finalists have gone on to have stellar careers as auctioneers including Damien Cooley (Cooley Auctions) and Jesse Davidson (auctionWORKS). Find out about the 2017 heat winners below.
Attendees at the heats are encouraged to bid on the items, with the proceeds from the events being donated to charity.
